A group of capybaras recently decided to pay a visit to the state legislative assembly in Cuiaba, Brazil. The rodents, known for their calm nature, strolled through the front door of the building while lawmakers were preparing for a scheduled vote.
Civil servant Nayara Bueno, who filmed the encounter, noted that these visitors are a common sight near the legislative offices. The building is located directly adjacent to a public park that serves as a habitat for local wildlife. Instead of causing a scene or damaging property, the animals simply wandered through the halls.
Bueno and other staff members guided the group back toward the exit without incident. The capybaras returned to their home in the nearby park, allowing the legislature to resume its business for the day.
This incident highlights the intersection between human development and local ecosystems in the Mato Grosso region. While these rodents are recognized worldwide for their relaxed behavior, their presence in a government facility offered a rare look at how urban expansion brings wildlife into close contact with administrative spaces.
