Quiet, please: Announcer-free stream to debut during Rocket Classic on PGA TOUR LIVE, ESPN+

PGA TOUR Studios is testing a new way for fans to watch professional golf. Starting this week at the Rocket Classic, viewers on PGA TOUR LIVE and ESPN+ can access a feed called Marquee Group: Quiet Please. This stream removes traditional commentary to focus exclusively on course sounds and player-caddie interactions.

The initiative relies on ambient audio from the course, including crowd reactions and direct conversations between players and their caddies. Instead of verbal play-by-play, graphics and real-time statistics provide the necessary information. Fans can also participate in digital polls and view trivia about the course and players throughout the broadcast.

This format is part of the Fan Forward Initiative, which aims to provide options for a diverse fanbase. Internal feedback indicates significant interest, as two-thirds of the TOUR's Fan Council responded positively to the concept during review. The broadcast will cover all four rounds of the tournament at Detroit Golf Club.

This pilot program represents an effort to experiment with production styles. Beyond the audio changes, the broadcast includes integrated social media elements to keep viewers engaged. The PGA TOUR plans to evaluate performance and fan sentiment after the event. Future iterations may see this become a recurring feature in the 2027 season as the organization adapts its delivery methods.
