Si Woo Kim ends up in Canada after Google Maps mix-up before Rocket Classic

Professional golfer Si Woo Kim found himself on an unexpected trip to Canada this week while attempting to get dinner in Detroit. Kim, who is in town for the Rocket Classic, was invited to a local Korean barbecue spot by fellow tour pro Michael Kim. He typed the name of the restaurant into his navigation app and started driving.

Instead of arriving at the restaurant, Kim found himself on a bridge heading toward the Canadian border. It turns out that a restaurant with a similar name exists on the other side of the border. Because he did not have his passport with him, the situation became tense as he attempted to explain the mistake to border patrol officers.

After officers on the Canadian side of the river questioned him, they eventually cleared him to return to the United States. Michael Kim shared the story on social media, noting that the ordeal added about 90 minutes to their dinner plans. While the night started with an unintended international border crossing, the group did eventually make it to their meal.
