Auburn to face Serbian pro team next month in Greece
Auburn basketball heads to Greece next month for a set of exhibition games. The Tigers will play two matches against the Serbian professional team KK Mega Basket. These games are scheduled for August 8 and 9 at the P. Chanioti Ano Mera Indoor Hall in Mykonos. Both games tip off at 7 p.m. local time.
This matchup brings a sense of familiarity to the program. Former Auburn forward Filip Jovic previously played for KK Mega Basket before his time on the Plains. The Serbian team has a history of competing against college programs, including recent games against Kentucky. They are also slated to face Michigan in Croatia later this summer.
Head coach Steven Pearl emphasizes the importance of this trip for team development. These games provide a structured environment for the roster to compete against professional talent before the regular season begins in mid-October. The coaching staff plans to use this time to evaluate the new roster, which includes five transfers and international additions.
The NCAA recently updated its rules, allowing college basketball programs to participate in foreign tours annually rather than every four years. Auburn intends to use this opportunity to build camaraderie and adjust to live-game intensity early in the year. The team currently features returning guards Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton alongside a group of incoming transfers and recruits.
