Louisville legend and assistant coach Peyton Siva is leaving the Cardinals program to join Rick Pitino’s staff at St. John’s. This move comes after Siva served as a full-time assistant for the 2025-26 season following his earlier tenure as the Director of Player Development.
Siva will fill the vacancy created by Greg Youncofski, who recently departed for a role at Xavier. In New York, he will reunite with former Louisville assistant Steve Masiello, currently acting as the associate head coach and interim general manager for the Red Storm.
For the University of Louisville, the timing of this departure presents a challenge. With the fall semester beginning in a matter of weeks, the athletic department must now identify a replacement to join Pat Kelsey’s coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season.
While the loss of a program icon is difficult for fans, the opportunity to work directly under Rick Pitino is a clear professional step.
