Sam Alexis has confirmed his plan to return to the Indiana University men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season. The announcement follows his recent success in obtaining a court injunction in Tennessee, which grants him eligibility for a fifth year of college basketball. While potential NCAA appeals regarding the ruling remain a factor, the forward appears focused on his upcoming campaign in Bloomington.
Alexis spent the previous season as a key contributor for the Hoosiers after transferring from Florida. He started 23 of his 32 appearances and set a school record for the highest field goal percentage in a single season by a player with over 100 attempts, hitting at a 68.7 percent clip. His statistics included 8.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
His decision brings a significant veteran presence to the Indiana frontcourt. He will join a rotation that includes big men Aiden Sherrell and Samet Yigitoglu. The team now carries 13 scholarship players on its roster as preparations for the new season begin.
Recently, Alexis participated with Team USA in the FISU America Games in Peru. He showcased his form by scoring 39 points and grabbing 14 rebounds across three games while shooting over 80 percent from the field. This return bolsters the depth of the team as they look ahead to their upcoming conference schedule.
