Versatile Taysom Hill not returning to Saints for 10th season

Taysom Hill is ending his tenure with the New Orleans Saints after nine seasons. The veteran confirmed his departure on Wednesday, stating he will not return for a tenth year. Hill, known for his unique versatility on the field, thanked the city and the team for their support over nearly a decade of play.

Hill served as a specialized offensive weapon, lining up at quarterback, tight end, wide receiver, and running back throughout his time in New Orleans. He holds a singular place in NFL history as the only player in the Super Bowl era to record at least 1,000 career yards in rushing, receiving, and passing statistics. He also stands as one of only five players to reach double-digit career touchdowns in each of those three categories.

While Hill confirmed he is moving on from the Saints, he has not yet announced a formal retirement. He noted that he is still determining his future professional steps but wanted to address his status as training camp activities begin across the league. General manager Mickey Loomis acknowledged Hill's contributions, citing his leadership and impact as a teammate during his 118 regular-season appearances with the franchise.

Hill joined the organization after a stint with the Green Bay Packers in 2017. He successfully transitioned back to the field in 2025 following a significant knee injury sustained in late 2024. He played 13 games during his final season with the club, contributing to the offensive scheme through both carries and receptions. His departure marks the end of a specific era for the franchise’s tactical identity.
