Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin crashes a couple's wedding photo shoot on a hotel staircase

Hockey legend Alex Ovechkin found himself in an unexpected role this week while visiting his native Russia. The Washington Capitals star was caught on video wandering into a couple's wedding photo shoot at a hotel in Saint Petersburg.

Ovechkin was in town to participate in a charity match known as the Match of the Year. The game featured a mix of NHL and KHL talent. While heading down a staircase at a local hotel, the veteran forward walked directly into the path of a couple posing for their wedding pictures.

Rather than stopping, the hockey icon moved through the scene with a hockey stick in his hand. The footage caught the moment the blade entered the frame before he passed the couple.

Ovechkin is currently preparing for the upcoming season with the Washington Capitals. He recently signed a new deal after a 64-point campaign. The team has also been active this offseason, adding veterans like Alex Tuch and Jordan Kyrou to the roster.
