Prime Video becomes long-term home of NHL in Canada for 'Wednesday Night Hockey'
Prime Video is now a long-term broadcast partner for the National Hockey League in Canada. Rogers Communications and the league finalized a 12-year agreement that grants Prime Video exclusive rights to Wednesday night regular-season games. This arrangement begins with the 2026-2027 season.
Beyond regular-season coverage, the deal includes select Stanley Cup Playoff series. Each year, Prime Video will carry two First Round series and one Second Round series. These games will be available in both English and French. Prime members in Canada will access this content at no additional charge.
This partnership adds to the existing rights held by Sportsnet. Sportsnet retains exclusive English-language rights to more than 500 national NHL games per season, including Monday and Saturday broadcasts. The move aims to increase national game availability for fans across the country while reducing blackout restrictions.
The 12-year term aligns with the broader national media rights agreement announced by Rogers and the NHL last year. This deal covers the period from 2026-27 through 2037-38. Fans can expect production standards and analysis teams similar to the current coverage model. Further details regarding specific on-air talent will arrive closer to the season start date.
