Wimbledon champion returns to Central Florida
Central Florida has a new champion in its ranks. Local teenager Jordan Lee returned home this week following his win at the Wimbledon Boys Singles Championship on July 12. Lee defeated a higher-ranked opponent in a three-set match to secure the title.
The victory marks a point of historical significance as Lee is only the second qualifier to ever win the Boys singles title at Wimbledon. He is also the first American to hold this trophy since 2021. The path to this win required immense discipline, including months of physical recovery from injuries sustained throughout the prior year.
Lee enters the next stage of his career with momentum. He is currently preparing for the US Open taking place next month in New York, where he will compete as a major tournament champion.
