Leaked promotional images provide a clear look at the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 5 just days before the official launch. The images confirm the device retains the familiar Acuta OLED display seen in the previous generation, but brings several functional updates to the table.
Health tracking is a core focus for this release. Google has refined the sleep tracking algorithms, with the company noting that performance has been validated against reference devices. The emergency safety features also return with a satellite SOS function, which users can access at no extra cost for the first two years of ownership. The watch continues to offer automatic emergency calling if it detects a cessation of heart activity.
Battery performance remains steady compared to the Pixel Watch 4. The 41-mm version provides 30 hours of runtime, while the larger 45-mm model reaches 40 hours. Internal upgrades include a move to the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, paired with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash storage. The device maintains a diverse array of sensors, including ECG, SpO2, and skin temperature monitoring, alongside GPS, NFC, and UWB capabilities.
Google is leaning into its Gemini AI software suite to differentiate the watch from its predecessor. While these AI tools are expected to reach the Pixel Watch 4 via a future Wear OS 7 update, they appear to be a central marketing point for the new hardware. An LTE modem will be available as an optional add-on for users who require cellular connectivity without a smartphone nearby. The full suite of specifications will receive official confirmation during the launch event scheduled for August 12.
