Google is positioning its upcoming Pixel Tag to challenge the market dominance of the Apple AirTag. New reports indicate a European launch price of €34.90, which places the device almost exactly in line with the €35 sticker price for Apple’s tracker. Industry observers anticipate a US price point of $29, maintaining a strategy of direct parity between the two ecosystems.
The hardware is slated for an official introduction at the Made By Google event on August 12, 2026. This launch schedule aligns with the unveiling of the Pixel 11 and the Pixel Watch 5, signaling a hardware-heavy presentation. Initial leaks identify the tracker as a compact, puck-shaped device with an integrated loudspeaker for audible alerts. The device will debut in a color option currently labeled as Fog Light.
While pricing and launch windows are becoming clear, significant questions remain regarding the internal specifications. Technical details concerning Ultra-Wideband support for precise location tracking are not yet public. Battery life and the method of power replenishment also remain missing from the current intelligence. These features will determine whether the Pixel Tag can perform effectively against existing network standards.
This release marks a significant milestone for the Android Find My Device network. By providing a first-party hardware solution, Google aims to provide a more integrated tracking experience for its user base. We expect more granular data following the official announcement in August.
