The new Raise to Talk gesture allows users to trigger the AI assistant by moving their wrist toward their mouth, removing the need for manual button presses or specific wake phrases. This update aims to provide faster access to information and task management while on the move.
Once active, Gemini functions as a personal assistant directly on the wrist. Users can manage multistep actions such as drafting messages, summarizing emails, or initiating phone calls without needing a smartphone nearby. The integration also supports smart home control through SmartThings, allowing for the adjustment of lights, speakers, and thermostats.
Beyond communication and home control, the software provides navigational help, flight schedule updates, and weather checks. It also assists in organizing daily schedules by handling calendar events, tasks, and reminders. These features are designed to keep users connected and organized during their daily routines.
These capabilities are specific to the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, though earlier watch models still support Gemini via voice commands or button presses. Pre-orders are currently open, with devices arriving to the public on August 7.
