Google is preparing to launch the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12 alongside the Pixel 11 series. Leaked specifications indicate this release represents an incremental hardware update rather than a major shift in performance or design.
The most notable change is an increase in storage capacity. The new model will feature 64 GB of eMMC storage, effectively doubling the 32 GB found on the previous version. Memory specifications appear to remain at 2 GB, consistent with the predecessor.
Battery life remains unchanged for the upcoming release. The 41mm model is expected to provide between 30 and 40 hours of operation, while the 45mm variant offers between 48 and 72 hours. These figures match the performance metrics of the Pixel Watch 4.
Google will power the device with the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, though reports suggest minor refinements. The software experience will move to Wear OS 7.0 integrated with Gemini Intelligence, providing a direct upgrade from the Wear OS 6.0 seen on the current model.
Design changes include a shift in the strap material. The company is moving from a fluoroelastomer-based strap to a Hydrogenated Nitrile-Butadiene Rubber (HNBR) design. While HNBR is more cost-effective and provides higher tensile strength, it may offer reduced resistance to environmental degradation over extended use.
