Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Watch9, focusing on hardware improvements that affect battery life and daily performance. The 40mm model now includes a 390mAh battery, representing a 20 percent increase over the previous generation. This change aims to minimize charging interruptions for users who track activity or sleep data regularly.
The device is the first in the series to use the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. This hardware update is intended to improve responsiveness when switching between apps or checking health metrics. Additionally, a new Raise to Talk feature allows users to access Gemini by speaking toward the device while holding their wrist in a natural position.
Health tracking capabilities have been updated to provide more context regarding physical status. The new Vitals feature establishes a personal baseline from sleep data to note trends. The Heart Health Score and Fitness Index aggregate lifestyle factors to offer a view of cardiovascular and recovery status. Users can also monitor Daily Cardio Load to assess when their body requires rest or can handle increased intensity.
Comfort was a priority for this iteration. Samsung updated the design to a slimmer profile and introduced a Sport Band with air pockets to reduce weight on the wrist. A Dynamic Lug System ensures the watch maintains consistent contact with the skin for more accurate sensor readings during movement or sleep.
General availability for the Galaxy Watch9 begins on August 7. Interested buyers can pre-order the device through the company website.
