Kyle becomes first Hays County area with GFiber internet service

GFiber is now available in Kyle, marking a significant step for internet connectivity in Hays County. The company held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 30 to celebrate the launch of its high-speed service for local residents and business owners.

This expansion follows a multi-year process that began with initial infrastructure plans in 2023. The City of Kyle later approved a public right-of-way license agreement in September 2024 to permit the necessary construction. Crews started the installation process in the summer of 2025 to prepare for the city-wide rollout.

John-Michael Cortez, head of government and community affairs for GFiber, noted that the service aims to provide gigabit-level speeds to neighborhoods across the region. The project aligns Kyle with other major cities in the area that already host the fiber-optic network.

Mayor Yvonne Flores-Cale emphasized the importance of this infrastructure for the local economy. According to city leadership, stable high-speed access is a vital component for supporting education, healthcare services, and future entrepreneurial growth in the area.
