Google is rolling out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 today for Pixel devices. This release follows the QPR1 Beta 6 update from two weeks ago and marks the latest step in the company's software testing process. The current build remains on the July 2026 security patch.
This update focuses on addressing specific system issues reported by users. A primary fix involves an audio framework buffer management problem that previously resulted in loud audio corruption and static during media playback or notification alerts. Developers also corrected an NFC service regression that had prevented certain tags from reading data or opening URLs.
Hardware-related stability is another priority in this release. Owners of the Pixel Tablet may notice improvements, as Google resolved a bug where the Speaker Dock would frequently disconnect or fail to initialize when attached. Additionally, the software addresses a fingerprint authentication issue that prevented some devices from triggering the unlock process correctly.
Users can access these system images for a wide range of devices, including the Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 9 lineup, and the Pixel 10 series. Those participating in the Android Beta Program can obtain the update via an on-device over-the-air notification. Feedback regarding any remaining bugs can be submitted through the official Android Beta Feedback application installed on the device.
