Google continues its testing phase for the upcoming operating system by releasing Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 for Pixel devices. This update arrives shortly after the release of QPR2 Beta 3, keeping the QPR1 preview cycle active for users who remain on that track.

The update focuses on resolving several technical issues reported by users. One of the primary fixes addresses a problem where swiping the bottom gesture bar to switch between applications failed after using the Circle to Search feature. Developers modified the system gesture handling to ensure the navigation focus resets correctly after such interactions.

Additional fixes include a solution for unexpected loud noises that occurred during media playback and notification alerts. The patch also addresses a persistent reboot loop that caused some devices to restart every 20 to 30 seconds. Users who experienced missing taskbar icons on foldable devices while launching apps or entering bubble mode should also see this behavior corrected with this installation.

The update includes a fix for intermittent battery drain issues identified in earlier builds. While the software remains on the July 2026 security patch, these stability improvements target specific hardware behaviors across the entire Pixel lineup. Supported devices include models ranging from the Pixel 6 series through the current Pixel 10 family, as well as the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.

Those currently enrolled in the Android Beta Program will receive this update as an over-the-air installation. Users who encounter remaining bugs or new performance issues can report them via the Android Beta Feedback app located in the device application drawer or the Quick Settings menu. The company also maintains an official community forum on Reddit for additional troubleshooting and discussion.
