MeBeMe’s new ‘interrupter’ app helps you become your best self instead of doomscrolling
MeBeMe is a new app designed to break the cycle of digital doomscrolling by shifting the focus from restriction to action. Rather than simply blocking your favorite social media platforms, this tool functions as an interrupter that pushes you toward tangible goals and personal growth. When you open the application, you select a specific identity you want to embody, such as a lifelong learner, athlete, or reader. From there, the app sends notifications containing small missions designed to align your daily activities with those chosen roles.
Created by Eric Wolfram, the app offers over 75 distinct identities across categories like mind, body, and home-based interests. Users maintain total control over their experience, including how often they receive alerts and whether they want to use voice-read functionality via Siri to interrupt their habits. Because the system focuses on small, repeatable actions, it aims to help users construct better habits over time without the frustration associated with complete digital abstinence.
Privacy stands as a core pillar of the design. The app requires no user account and stores all personal data locally on the device itself. You have the ability to opt out of any data sharing, which adds a layer of transparency missing from many similar productivity tools. With no advertisements and no subscription tiers, the app remains accessible to anyone looking to spend less time scrolling and more time practicing the skills they value most.
Currently available on iOS, the app provides a straightforward way to manage screen time by replacing passive consumption with active engagement. Whether you want to focus on chess, cooking, or physical fitness, the app provides the nudges necessary to step away from the screen and toward real-world pursuits. Plans for an Android version are currently in development as the project continues to gain attention.
