The Google Pixel 11 camera interface introduces significant changes to how users handle manual adjustments. The new Quick access feature, previously available in a different form, now appears as slider dials positioned on the sides of the display. While these dials offer a way to manage settings like Looks, they require users to tap the screen to reveal them, as they remain hidden by default. The configuration process for these sliders lives within the camera settings menu under the overflow button.
Alongside these visual changes, the Pixel 11 adds a Launch mode setting. This function permits users to bypass the standard photo mode entirely when opening the camera. You can configure the application to start directly in video mode or Magic Capture. This option is located within the camera settings, situated near the slider controls.
These updates arrive with Pixel Camera version 11.0. The design language currently appears exclusive to the Pixel 11 hardware, though it is standard practice for Google to migrate such features to older devices in future software updates. The current implementation remains a work in progress regarding discoverability, as the interface does not immediately notify the user that these sliders exist without interaction.
While the utility of the sliders provides faster access to specific adjustments, the lack of an always-on display option for these controls may frustrate users who prefer quick, persistent access. The system provides an undo button at the bottom of the screen following any adjustments, ensuring that mistakes are easy to rectify during a shoot. These changes represent the latest refinement in Google's approach to mobile photography software on the Pixel platform.
