240 local artists featured at South Bend Museum of Art through Aug. 23

The South Bend Museum of Art is currently hosting its third biennial exhibition, Around the Bend. This show features 240 local artists from eight counties across Indiana and Michigan. The exhibit runs through August 23 and is free to the public.

Curator Frances Jacobus-Parker organized the collection in the museum's Warner Gallery. She arranged the works to create thematic conversations between pieces. The display includes a wide range of mediums, from traditional paintings to tribal regalia and experimental photography printed on botanical paper.

The exhibition began in 2022 as a way to welcome the community back after the pandemic. It has since become a tradition that highlights the creative depth within the South Bend region. Jacobus-Parker noted that the goal is to acknowledge the diverse art scenes that coexist locally.

Visitors can view the exhibition from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The museum remains open until 8 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. More information is available on the museum website or by phone.
