CIX Gallery & Lounge in Wooster will host a new exhibition titled SURFACTION - A Cinema of Natural and Unnatural Processes. The show opens on August 29 with a public reception from 3 to 6 p.m. featuring a live DJ and refreshments. Admission is free for all attendees.

The exhibit highlights the work of four Ohio creators. Special effects artist David Henson Greathouse, known professionally as House, brings his film and television production experience to the space. Mansfield photographer J. Leopold Francl presents surreal photography that focuses on light, texture, and abstract visual storytelling.

Horror mask maker Cody Wilhite joins the lineup with his sculptural work from Deadweight Creations. Natalia Gorka contributes pen-and-ink illustrations and acrylic paintings that document intricate details of natural ecosystems. These artists share a core interest in surface manipulation and changing how viewers perceive their surroundings.

Gallery owner Jo Westfall curated the collection. She notes that the work shifts subconscious recognition through monsters and masks while documenting natural microcosms found on the forest floor. The exhibition remains open to the public through November 14.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday. Visitors may also schedule appointments outside of these hours by contacting the gallery directly. The show serves as an opportunity to see regional art that crosses between traditional media and cinematic special effects.
