Walt Disney Imagineering recently shared new details regarding the upcoming Indiana Jones attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The ride is titled Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent and is currently in development. This project takes guests into an ancient temple ruin located within a new area of the park called Tropical Americas.
Harrison Ford confirmed he is the model for the new animatronic figure featured in the attraction. This is the first time his likeness is used for an animatronic in a Disney park anywhere in the world. The storyline centers on Dr. Jones exploring a cenote near a mysterious temple site that is supposedly tied to the Maya Underworld.
Visitors on the ride will encounter various challenges during their journey. These include encounters with a legendary serpentine creature known as the Tsukán. Guests will also face other dangers inside the temple environment, including scorpions and bats. The reveal happened during the D23 fan event, where concept art showcased the scale of the new addition.
The attraction is a significant update for Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It integrates the Indiana Jones franchise into the park infrastructure. Imagineers Michael Hundgen and Chris Beatty provided the initial look at the concept, which promises to expand the current offerings at Walt Disney World.
