‘Ebenezer’ Trailer: Johnny Depp Transforms Into Grouchy, Snowball-Throwing Scrooge
Paramount Pictures has officially released the first trailer for Ebenezer. This project features Johnny Depp in his first major Hollywood role since his 2022 legal proceedings. The film serves as a dark reimagining of the classic Charles Dickens story, A Christmas Carol.
Directed by Ti West, the movie casts Depp as the title character, the infamous Christmas grouch Ebenezer Scrooge. The trailer highlights the character as he encounters the spirits of the season while dealing with his own past. Scenes show the character wandering through snowy streets and interacting with others in his characteristic ill-tempered fashion.
Beyond the central performance, the cast includes notable actors such as Andrea Riseborough, Tramell Tillman, Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint, and Daisy Ridley. West, recognized for his work on horror titles like Pearl and MaXXXine, shared that his own history with various adaptations of this story influenced his approach to the film.
This release marks a notable point in the professional trajectory of the lead actor. Following his departure from the Fantastic Beasts series, he appeared in international productions and directed an indie film. His current work on this project and his upcoming role in the Lionsgate action-thriller Day Drinker signal a return to major Hollywood productions. Audiences can expect the film to arrive in theaters on November 13.
