Rosario Dawson recently shared a behind-the-scenes detail about her involvement with the latest Spider-Man installment, Brand New Day. During an appearance at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, the actor revealed that she filmed a scene reprising her role as Claire Temple from the Daredevil series, but the appearance did not make the final cut of the film.
Dawson described herself as a reject of Spider-Man, noting the irony of missing out on a project with such massive global viewership. She recounted the conversation with her mother, who was initially disappointed because it meant she could not post photos taken on set. Dawson also highlighted her long-standing connection to the character, which stems from her uncle Gus, who worked as a comic-book artist and first learned to draw Spider-Man.
Despite the cut, Dawson expressed her clear affinity for the Marvel universe and the character she has played across multiple shows including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. She noted the coincidence of a scene in a recent comic featuring a young Spider-Man at the same Lower East Side elementary school she attended as a child. While her specific cameo is off the table, the star remains hopeful for a future return to the role of Claire Temple.
