The dog days of August are nowhere to be found at the box office this year. Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its historic run, heading into its fourth weekend with an estimated 35 million dollars domestically and 85 million dollars worldwide. While it may not break the all-time records held by Avatar or Avengers: Endgame, the film remains a massive success for Sony. It recently became the fastest movie to cross 800 million dollars in North America in just 19 days.

Sony is also set to secure the second spot this frame with the release of the Blumhouse Atomic Monster production Insidious: Out of the Further. The sequel is tracking for a domestic opening between 23 and 27 million dollars across 3,303 theaters. With a global debut projected near 50 million dollars, the horror franchise continues to show significant strength in international markets, particularly in Catholic regions and the Philippines.

Other wide releases hitting theaters this weekend include smaller entries seeking to carve out their own audience. Black Bear is launching Spa Weekend, a comedy from the team behind The Hangover, which is expected to bring in between 3 and 5 million dollars from 2,009 locations. Lionsgate brings the Jason Statham action feature Mutiny to 2,703 screens, following a man framed for his boss's murder who uncovers a global conspiracy.

Vertical is also entering the family film space with The Magic Faraway Tree. Starring Andrew Garfield, the film has already performed well in overseas markets with over 32 million dollars in earnings. As it makes its domestic debut in 1,611 theaters, it arrives with positive critical reception. With a variety of genres hitting screens, moviegoers have several options to choose from this weekend.
