New edition of The Beatles’ Rubber Soul includes a previously unreleased John Lennon song
A rare piece of music history is finally coming to light. The upcoming expanded edition of The Beatles’ 1965 masterpiece, Rubber Soul, includes a previously unreleased track by John Lennon titled Little Girl. The song remained hidden in the vaults for decades until its recent discovery while the band’s estate prepared materials for this special release.
Producer Giles Martin confirmed the find, noting that the demo was sourced from the Lennon Estate. The expanded edition, scheduled for an October 2 release via UMG and Apple Corps Ltd, serves as a major event for collectors and long-time fans. It promises to provide a fresh perspective on a record that defined a generation of rock music.
The project offers more than just a single hidden track. It features new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes created by Martin and engineer Sam Okell, alongside the original mono mix. The Super Deluxe box sets, available in 4CD and 5LP configurations, contain a total of 68 tracks. These collections include home demos, studio recordings, and an 88-page hardback book featuring an introduction by Paul McCartney.
In addition to the standard editions, the release includes limited-edition orange and zoetrope vinyl pressings. The inclusion of rarities such as instrumental backing tracks and early studio takes makes this a significant update to the band's catalog. Fans looking to secure their copy or explore the full tracklist can look toward the October launch window.
