Swedish metal veterans Cult of Luna have shared A Way Back, the second single from their forthcoming album In the Shadow of Your Shadow. The record arrives November 6 via RED CRK Recordings and follows the release of the title track earlier this summer.
Co-vocalist and guitarist Fredrik Kihlberg describes the song as an exploration of the feeling of being lost or trapped. The lyrics focus on the internal struggle to reach a safe space when dealing with overwhelming anxiety. Musically, the track functions as a heavy ballad that balances acoustic and electric guitars with piano, synth elements, and textured percussion.
Johannes Persson, the band’s founder and vocalist, maintains a clear focus on artistic progression. He notes that stagnation remains his primary professional concern. Persson emphasizes that the band prioritizes their own sense of novelty above external perceptions of their sound, committing to continued creative exploration after 25 years in the industry.
