Phoebe Bridgers fans in Rochester have a unique opportunity to hear her upcoming album, Lost Weekend, before its global release. The Strasenburgh Planetarium is hosting an immersive, phone-free listening experience starting August 10.
The event showcases the album in its entirety, paired with specialized visual shows inside the dome. Attendees can choose between a custom dome presentation featuring night-sky photography by Babak Tafreshi or an immersive laser show by Laser Fantasy. Tafreshi’s work highlights natural imagery from across the globe, including the Northern Lights in Iceland and star-filled skies in Madagascar, captured without the use of computer-generated effects.
Strict guidelines are in place for this experience. It is a listening session rather than a live performance, and Bridgers will not be in attendance. To maintain an undistracted environment, all guests must secure their phones, smart watches, and recording devices in Yondr pouches upon entry. Planetarium staff will enforce this policy, and any use of recording equipment will lead to immediate removal from the event.
Tickets for the sessions are available through the Rochester Museum & Science Center or at the Strasenburgh Planetarium box office. Because online ticket sales conclude five minutes before showtime, those planning to attend should secure their spots in advance. The event is non-refundable, and organizers advise that the show includes flashing lights that may affect those with photosensitive conditions.
