Federal judge denies bond for rapper Pooh Shiesty, remains in custody

A federal judge has denied bond for Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty, confirming he will remain in custody until his upcoming trial. The ruling follows arguments from federal prosecutors who labeled the artist a danger to the community.

The government stated that no conditions of release could adequately protect the public from the rapper. Prosecutors cited the defendant's ability to summon an armed entourage at will as a key reason for the decision. The charges against the rapper involve the alleged kidnapping and robbery of his label boss, Gucci Mane, involving property valued at $450,000.

While the court denied bond for the artist, other individuals involved in the related legal proceedings saw different outcomes. The judge granted bond to both the rapper’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., and fellow artist Big30.

The case is now moving toward a trial date scheduled for next February. The decision leaves the rapper in federal custody for the duration of the pretrial period.
