Snoop Dogg Biopic Sets Summer 2027 Release Date
Universal Pictures has officially confirmed the release date for the upcoming biopic titled Snoop. The R-rated film about the life and career of the legendary rapper and media mogul is scheduled to hit theaters on August 6, 2027.
Jonathan Daviss, known for his work on the series Outer Banks, takes on the lead role of Snoop Dogg. The film is directed by Craig Brewer, who previously directed Hustle and Flow. The production will feature music pulled from the rapper's extensive discography, including signature tracks like Drop It Like It's Hot and Gin and Juice.
The project marks the first feature under the studio's partnership with Death Row Pictures. Producers on the film include Brian Grazer, who worked on the film 8 Mile, alongside Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures President Sara Ramaker. While official plot details remain under wraps, the film aims to document the life of the artist who evolved from a rap icon into a prominent entrepreneur in tech, food, and lifestyle branding.
The film enters a crowded summer release window. It currently occupies the same opening date as The Bluey Movie and Jason Statham Stole My Bike. The project was initially announced in 2022 with the backing of Donna Langley, who emphasized the significance of the artist’s legacy in popular culture.
