The first live results show of America’s Got Talent Season 21 concluded on August 19. Eleven acts performed during the initial Quarterfinals round, and viewers cast their votes to determine who moves forward. Out of those performers, only three acts earned a spot in the upcoming Semifinals.
The magic act Hundred Fingers bypassed the Semifinals entirely after receiving a Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel. This golden ticket advances the group directly to the Finals. Seven other acts from the night faced elimination as the field narrowed.
Host Terry Crews guided the evening, which included feedback from judges Simon Cowell and Mel B regarding the previous night’s performances. Cowell noted his change in perspective after reviewing the footage of James and Marina, admitting he regretted his initial reaction.
Five acts made the initial Top 5 cut, including Olivia Befus, Luke Taleno, Royal Lasers, Cris Sosa, and the Jesse White Tumbling Team. After further review of the audience voting, the three acts confirmed for the Semifinals are Olivia Befus, Royal Lasers, and Luke Taleno. Seven contestants were sent home this week, including James and Marina, CommUNITY ATL, Ashford Sanders, Brook Lynn, Sando, Jesse White Tumbling Team, and Cris Sosa.
The Quarterfinal phase continues for three more weeks as more contestants compete for the remaining spots in the Semifinals. NBC broadcasts new episodes of the competition each Tuesday and Wednesday at 8/7c.
