Latest 'Walking Dead' premieres this weekend, with strong touch of Worcester
The latest season of The Walking Dead: Dead City arrives this Sunday, July 26, and viewers familiar with Massachusetts will recognize the backdrop. Production crews spent several months filming across downtown Worcester during late 2025, turning local streets and historic buildings into a post-apocalyptic landscape.
Fans can spot iconic city locations in the show's trailer. Main, Mechanic, Norwich, and Portland streets serve as the setting for intense action sequences featuring stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan. The production team used the area near the old Denholm & McKay building and the Bancroft on the Grid apartment complex for significant scenes, including a hospital set transformation.
Beyond the familiar streets, local architecture plays a clear part in the storytelling. One notable sequence features a character interacting with a walker near the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences building. Other clips show stunt work at the Bancroft on the Grid property and zombie encounters concentrated in local alleyways near Franklin Street.
While this season features extensive footage captured within the city, the future of the series in this location remains undecided. There is currently no confirmation regarding potential renewals or return trips for additional filming. For those local to the area, the season premiere offers a chance to see familiar landmarks featured in a high-profile production.
