Ask Us 2026: Love & Guidance counseling aims to make mental care more accessible
Love & Guidance Counseling Center in Laredo is expanding its reach as it provides mental health services to the local community. The center recently received two 2026 Laredo Morning Times Readers’ Choice honors for its work in the area. Its mission centers on the idea that mental health requires the same attention as physical health.
The practice serves children, adolescents, adults, and families. Clinicians address concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship challenges. By offering services in both English and Spanish, the center ensures accessibility for the diverse population of South Texas. The staff includes licensed therapists and associate clinicians focused on providing evidence-based support.
Founder Leslie Gonzalez, LPC, LCDC, maintains a focus on both clinical practice and academic research. She is currently working on doctoral research regarding trauma and healing. This work informs the clinical approach used at the center, ensuring that therapy methods remain current and based on data.
Beyond traditional counseling, the center introduced the NeuroLounge. This space focuses on nervous system regulation and emotional well-being. It serves as a tool for those seeking to incorporate mental health care into their daily routines. Through these efforts, the center intends to reduce stigma and encourage consistent mental health awareness across Laredo.
