Lynk Global and Omnispace have finalized their merger, forming a new entity called Elveo Mobile. This move combines Lynk's direct-to-device satellite platform with Omnispace's 60 megahertz of S-band spectrum. By merging these assets, the company aims to move beyond simple messaging services to provide higher-capacity data connectivity to standard smartphones.

Regulatory approvals in the United States and abroad are now complete, allowing the venture to move forward. Previously, Omnispace faced challenges with spectrum interference related to SpaceX operations, and Lynk had primarily relied on existing cellular frequencies through its mobile network operator partners. The new company structure is designed to secure more bandwidth to compete for data-heavy applications.

Elveo Mobile is currently positioned to challenge industry leaders like SpaceX and AST SpaceMobile. CEO Ramu Potarazu confirmed that the company has existing contractual agreements with more than 50 mobile network operators across 60 countries. They plan to announce further details regarding strategic partnerships, manufacturing schedules, and launch timelines before the end of the year.

The venture maintains strong financial backing, with Luxembourg-based SES remaining a primary shareholder. Before the merger, Lynk had established plans to leverage SES satellites in medium Earth orbit to support continuous global connectivity by 2027. Testing on next-generation relay technology is currently underway to ensure the network can handle these expanded service requirements.
