This performance earned him a three-stroke win against a field that included Scottie Scheffler, who finished in second place.

Koivun claimed a payout of $1,584,000 and 500 FedExCup points for his win. His final round 66 without any bogeys solidified his position at the top of the leaderboard. This result also sets a new tournament record, breaking the previous mark set by Lee Hodges in 2023. Beyond the immediate financial reward, the win grants Koivun PGA TOUR membership through 2028.

This victory qualifies Koivun for major events including the 2027 Masters, the PGA Championship, and THE PLAYERS Championship. He currently sits at 70th in the FedExCup standings and is expected to reach 75th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Scottie Scheffler continues to lead the FedExCup standings following his runner-up finish. His performance in Minnesota adds to a season that already includes one win and numerous high placements. Other notable finishers at the 3M Open included Hideki Matsuyama, Brian Harman, Chandler Phillips, and Denny McCarthy, all of whom finished tied for third at 20-under.

This marks the eighth year of the 3M Open. As the season progresses, players are finalizing their positions for the playoffs. Koivun is now the seventh first-time winner on the tour this year, highlighting the shift in competitive standing as the tour heads into the final stretch of the schedule.
