Jerry Kelly wins Senior British Open title for first time

Jerry Kelly secured his first Senior British Open title this Sunday at Gleneagles in Scotland. The 59-year-old American golfer finished the tournament at 10-under 270, claiming a two-shot victory on the Kings course.

Kelly entered the final hole with a narrow lead and sealed his win with a birdie from a greenside bunker at the par-5 18th. This performance earned him his third senior major title, adding to his previous wins at the Senior Players championship in 2020 and 2022. The victory grants him an exemption into next year's British Open at St. Andrews.

Following the round, Kelly expressed his appreciation for the achievement. He noted his lifelong goal of holding the senior Claret Jug and mentioned how the victory remains special given the venue's history. He ended the tournament with a 2-under 68, featuring four birdies and two bogeys.

Cameron Percy, Darren Fichardt, and Matt Gogel finished in a three-way tie for second place. Matt Gogel produced a notable final-round score of 63, while Stephen Gallacher finished fifth with an 8-under 62, which included nine birdies. Kelly currently holds 14 victories on the PGA Tour Champions circuit.
