NASCAR has issued penalties to the No. 69 MBM Motorsports team following inspection issues at the Indianapolis Raceway Park event. The team, owned by Carl Long, faced scrutiny after officials found violations regarding the shifter boot in the vehicle.
According to the official report, the team failed to comply with Sections 14.2.3.6 A and B of the NASCAR rule book. These rules dictate that teams cannot use shifter boots manufactured more than two years ago and require a specific safety certification label on the equipment used in the truck. The inspection took place during the pre-qualifying phase for the Craftsman Truck Series race last weekend.
As a direct result of the violation, NASCAR has fined MBM Motorsports $5,000. Beyond the financial penalty, the organization received a deduction of 25 driver points and 25 owner points. These penalties affect the team's standing in the championship, pushing the part-time entry to negative 14 points in the owner standings.
Driver Jonathan Shafer, who was behind the wheel for the team during the attempt, now sits at negative 25 points in the driver standings for the season. This situation remains notable as Shafer has recorded three DNQs during the 2026 campaign while driving for MBM Motorsports. NASCAR confirmed that no other teams received penalties in the latest report released following the race weekend.
