Top150 recruit Jimmy McKinney III stays home; commits to Saint Louis

Jimmy McKinney III, a top-150 prospect in the class of 2027, has committed to Saint Louis University. The 6-foot-2 combo guard plays at Vashon High School and chose to stay in his hometown to play for coach Josh Schertz and the Billikens. This decision marks a significant win for the program as they focus on keeping elite local talent within the city.

McKinney, who plays for his father and former Missouri standout Jimmy McKinney, brings versatility to the SLU backcourt. During his time with the Brad Beal Elite program in the Nike EYBL, he demonstrated his ability to score from the perimeter and run an offense. Coaches highlight his pull-up jumper, mid-range consistency, and his comfort playing both on and off the ball as key assets.

Beyond his scoring ability, the coaching staff expects McKinney to contribute defensively. The program plans to use him to apply pressure across the floor and compete on every possession. His experience as a two-time Missouri State Champion provides a foundation for his transition to the college level.
