Sean Payton tearfully accepts Drew Brees' invitation to introduce QB for HOF
Sean Payton will present Drew Brees during the upcoming Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The two spent 15 years together with the New Orleans Saints and won Super Bowl XLIV, marking a significant era in NFL history.
Brees surprised his former head coach with the request over a video call, an emotional moment captured by team staff. Payton, who currently leads the Denver Broncos, openly teared up during the exchange. He stated that receiving the invitation was an honor, noting the rare bond between a coach and a quarterback.
Brees ranks second all-time in NFL history for passing yards, touchdown passes, and completions. His career in New Orleans concluded after the 2020 season, while Payton departed the organization in 2021 before moving to his current role.
The 2026 Hall of Fame class also features Luke Kuechly, Larry Fitzgerald, Roger Craig, and Adam Vinatieri. The induction ceremony is scheduled for August 8.
