The goal is to let users put their phones down and stay present during recitals or celebrations while the device handles the photography in the background.
Low-light performance also sees a shift with the introduction of Instant Night Sight. Powered by the new Tensor G6 processor, this mode operates 4.5 times faster than previous versions, reducing the wait time between tapping the shutter and finalizing the image. The company also integrated hardware improvements in the primary and telephoto sensors, which now capture significantly more light to reduce blur and improve clarity in dark environments.
For users who prefer a specific visual signature, the new Camera Looks feature allows for stylistic adjustments at the sensor level. Unlike post-processing filters, these four base looks—Original, Natural, Shadows, and Vanilla—are visible in the viewfinder before the shot is taken. This puts the creative choice in the hands of the user before the shutter is pressed, rather than relying on later edits.
Content creators are also getting dedicated support through a new Creator Suite. This includes project folders for better organization, an audio visualizer to monitor microphone input, and a reactive teleprompter that tracks speech pace in real time. These tools are designed to streamline production for mobile video, reflecting the increasing professional use of smartphone cameras.
