Ryan Gosling to Star in Marvel’s Ghost Rider Movie

Ryan Gosling is officially entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the San Diego Comic Con presentation at Hall H, Kevin Feige announced that the actor will star as Ghost Rider in a new standalone film. The production is currently scheduled for a 2028 release.

Shawn Levy will serve as director for the project. Levy and Gosling have a history of successful collaboration, including their recent work on the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter. Levy expressed high regard for Gosling during the announcement, noting the chemistry the pair developed while working on their previous shared projects.

This film marks the third major iteration of the Ghost Rider character on screen. Nicolas Cage previously portrayed the character in two Sony films, while Gabriel Luna played the role of Robbie Reyes in the Marvel television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The new film will reset the story, allowing for a fresh take on the Spirit of Vengeance origin.

The character follows the story of a man who makes a deal with the demon Mephisto to save his father, ultimately bonding with a supernatural force that transforms him into a skeletal, fire-wielding rider. Gosling is expected to carry the mantle forward in this reboot, contributing to his recent string of high-profile roles.
