Box Office: ‘The Odyssey’ Holds Strong With $25 Million on Friday

Christopher Nolan’s latest film The Odyssey maintains its lead at the domestic box office. The movie earned $25.9 million on Friday as it moved into its second weekend in theaters. Projections suggest a weekend total near $84.5 million, a 32 percent decrease from its opening numbers.

This performance brings the total domestic haul for the film to an estimated $283 million. The production set a new global benchmark for Nolan, exceeding the early returns of his previous hit The Dark Knight Rises. The film has found a wide audience despite its three-hour runtime.

Other films in the market are seeing varied results. The theatrical version of Hadestown: The Musical reached second place with an estimated $4 million Friday intake. Disney’s live-action remake of Moana remains in third place, while Toy Story 5 continues to perform well in its sixth week, with a total domestic run approaching $450 million. Minions and Monsters holds the fifth spot as it remains steady in its fourth week of release.
