Disney has officially set a release date for the upcoming Ghost Rider film starring Ryan Gosling. The project is scheduled to hit theaters on July 28, 2028. This move places the title firmly on the studio's calendar alongside other major franchise entries for that year.
The Ghost Rider project now serves as the third Marvel production slated for 2028. It joins the untitled X-Men film arriving on May 5, 2028, and Black Panther 3, which is currently set for December 15, 2028. These dates emerged as part of a broad scheduling update from Disney following the recent D23 fan event.
Shawn Levy is attached to direct the feature, with a script from Jonathan Tropper. Ryan Gosling steps into the role of the Spirit of Vengeance, a character previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage in two Sony-produced films. The announcement of Gosling's casting took place at Comic-Con earlier this year, building significant anticipation for this entry into the Marvel lineup.
Beyond the superhero genre, Disney shared updates for its broader theatrical slate. Pixar is moving forward with the release of Ghost Market on March 10, 2028, shifting the project from a planned streaming series to a full theatrical launch. Additional dates include the live-action Tangled remake for March 31, 2028, and an animated film titled Clay for November 22, 2028. These updates reflect a clear shift in how Disney intends to balance its streaming and theatrical windows as it looks toward 2028 and 2029.
