Woodmere Lanes Going Kosher Under New Ownership in 5 Towns
Woodmere Lanes, a cornerstone of the Five Towns since 1960, is starting a new chapter. Under new local ownership, the long-standing entertainment venue is transitioning to a fully kosher and shomer Shabbos operation. This move addresses a specific gap in the community, providing a space where observant families can host birthday parties, school events, and social gatherings without concerns over scheduling or kashrus.
The venue continues its long tradition of serving the neighborhood by keeping its twenty bowling lanes, cosmic lighting, and event spaces intact. The shift in operational model means the center will now close for Shabbos from Friday afternoon until Saturday night, aligning directly with the needs of the surrounding observant population. This change allows families and local organizations to plan events throughout the week and on motzei Shabbos with confidence.
All food operations are now under the supervision of the Vaad Hakashrus of the Five Towns and Far Rockaway. This upgrade formalizes the venue as a reliable kosher option for those living in the area. By moving to a full kosher standard, the new management aims to solidify the site as a hub for local community activities.
Located at 948 Broadway in Woodmere, the facility maintains its regular Sunday through Friday schedule. It remains a key landmark for entertainment in the Five Towns, now better positioned to serve the specific lifestyle requirements of its local customer base.
