NASCAR legend makes pit stop at this Beaufort dive bar. ‘My phone started blowing up’

NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. made an unexpected stop at a local landmark this week. The retired Hall of Fame driver and his wife, Amy, walked into The Fillin’ Station on Lady’s Island on Monday afternoon. The visit came as a surprise to the regular patrons at the waterfront bar, which is known locally as a quintessential dive bar.

The couple stayed for several hours, arriving just before 4 p.m. and remaining until roughly 7:30 p.m. Despite the star power in the room, the bar maintained its usual atmosphere. Heidi Love, one of the owners, noted that her phone began blowing up with messages from locals who recognized the former driver almost immediately.

During their visit, the Earnhardts took time to interact with those present. They posed for photos with staff and customers, including co-owner Randy Brenner, who is a significant fan of the sport. The couple also left a signature on a dollar bill that now occupies a spot on the bar’s wall, inscribed with the phrase, Bless your Hardt.

The visit adds to a growing list of notable figures appearing in the Beaufort area. Other high-profile names, including NASCAR drivers Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric, recently visited the nearby Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. While the specific reason for the Earnhardts' presence in the Lowcountry remains private, their stop at the local watering hole provided a memorable afternoon for the regulars at The Fillin’ Station.
