‘NASCAR Americana,’ three-part docuseries, premieres Aug. 9 on USA

NASCAR and USA Sports have announced the upcoming premiere of NASCAR Americana, a three-part limited documentary series. The project arrives during America’s 250th birthday celebration and examines how the sport grew from a regional pastime into a national cultural institution. The series features executive producer Peyton Manning and explores the history, families, and evolving spirit of stock car racing.

The first installment, titled Rebel Roots, airs Sunday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. ET on USA Network. It launches immediately after the NASCAR Cup Series Iowa Corn 350. This opening chapter traces the sport back to its origins with moonshiners in the South and looks at the pivotal impact of the 1979 Daytona 500. Viewers will see third-generation driver Ryan Blaney preparing for the 2026 Daytona 500 as the series establishes the historical context of the sport.

Subsequent episodes continue throughout August. Family Bonds, airing Aug. 15, highlights the multi-generational nature of racing communities and includes an interview with Hall of Fame driver Kurt Busch following the loss of his brother, Kyle Busch. The final chapter, Enduring Spirit, airs Aug. 23. This episode follows current stars Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace as they participate in the Anduril 250 at a U.S. Naval Base, showcasing how the sport maintains its traditions while moving forward into a modern era.

Production duties for the series fall to Full Speed Entertainment, which is a partnership between NASCAR Studios and Words + Pictures. The team behind the series includes creators responsible for well-known documentaries such as The Last Dance. With interviews featuring figures like Jeff Gordon, Darius Rucker, and Frankie Muniz, the documentary aims to provide a clear view of how racing reflects the character of the country. Fans can tune in to USA Network starting Aug. 9 to watch the premiere.
