Bob Seger's 'Face the Promise' marked with 20th anniversary edition

In 2006, Bob Seger returned from a long hiatus with his album Face the Promise. The record signaled a return to his roots and marked a significant comeback for the Detroit singer-songwriter after years of focusing on his family life. Fans who have waited for a wider release will have their chance this fall.

Capitol Records is honoring the 20th anniversary of the project with a release set for September 18, 2026. This package includes a remastered version of the original album alongside four previously unreleased bonus tracks. Fans can expect songs like Time, Little Jane, Red Eye to Memphis, and Let Me Try to appear on the new collection.

The reissue features a range of formats to suit different collections. These include an expanded four-disc vinyl set, an Amazon-exclusive colored vinyl, and a CD version featuring a specialized release at Walmart. For the first time, this album will also reach major digital streaming platforms, making the full collection accessible to a wider audience than ever before.

During the initial production of the album, Seger wrote over 40 songs before narrowing the tracklist down to the final twelve. He collaborated with artists such as Patty Loveless and Kid Rock during the recording sessions. Reflecting on the project in 2006, Seger noted the creative freedom he enjoyed while crafting the record, stating that he avoided catering to external pressures to focus on the sound he personally enjoyed. The inclusion of his signature blues-based guitar work and thick drum arrangements captures the style that defined his career.
