Want to know the Snoop Dogg biopic release date? Universal just dropped it like it's hot
Universal Pictures has officially locked the release date for the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic. The film is now set to hit theaters on August 6, 2027. This production replaces an untitled event movie previously held by the studio for that summer window.
Director Craig Brewer is at the helm for this project. He is writing the script based on an original draft by Joe Robert Cole, who previously co-wrote Black Panther. The narrative covers the life of Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., tracing his early years in Long Beach, California, through his ascent to become a defining figure in global hip-hop. Jonathan Daviss, known for his work in Outer Banks, is cast to play the role of the rap icon.
Snoop Dogg previously confirmed at CinemaCon that the film is rated R. This release joins a recent trend of successful music biopics. The studio aims to capture the same momentum seen in other biographical films focused on hip-hop and music industry moguls. The project remains a significant priority for Universal as they look to build on the success of past genre entries.
