Connoisseur Media Completes Bay Area Frequency Moves.

Connoisseur Media has officially shifted its K-Bay Country format to the 98.5 FM signal in San Jose. This move transitions the brand from its longtime home at 94.5 FM to a more powerful 10,000-watt Class B signal. The 94.5 frequency remains in use for the brand until the pending sale of that station to K-Love Inc. closes later this fall. All existing on-air personalities for the K-Bay brand will remain in their current roles as the station prepares for this transition.

The classic rock station KUFX, known as K-Fox, has vacated the 98.5 frequency. K-Fox now broadcasts exclusively via HD2 signals on 98.5 in San Jose and HD3 on 99.7 in San Francisco, alongside its digital mobile app and website. The station began this new phase as a music-only service, with management noting that plans for future talent roles are currently in development. Current airstaff members from the KUFX team are expected to transition into new internal positions within Connoisseur Media.

This change comes as the company continues to manage its Northern California cluster. The 98.5 signal holds significant local history, having served as the home for K-Fox for years and previously hosting KOME. The transition involved a final sign-off ceremony where the station played Steppenwolf’s Born To Be Wild, marking the end of a 35-year run on that specific frequency.

Connoisseur Media acquired these assets as part of a larger $10 million purchase of the former Bonneville San Francisco cluster. Beyond these specific frequency changes, the company maintains a broad portfolio in the region including KEZR in San Jose and several stations in the East Bay. Further announcements regarding programming leadership across these West Coast markets are expected in the coming weeks.
